Lydia O. Heino April 21, 1911 - September 9, 2012 Albrightsville, PA - Lydia O. Heino, 101, of Albrightsville, PA died suddenly on Sunday, September 9, 2012. Born on April 21, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Jalmar and Olga (Luoto) Suominen. Although she was born in Far Rockaway, NY, Lydia was raised in Kustavi, Finland and later re-immigrated to the United States at the age of 20. She married George Heino at Russell Sage Presbyterian Church in Far Rockaway, NY in 1932. He predeceased her on September 9, 1950. Lydia was a long-time resident of Inwood, NY. She was a member of the Leukemia Society and The American Scandinavian Society. Lydia was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She leaves her children, Helen Steiger of Ledyard, Mary Sorensen of Albrightsville, PA, George Heino and spouse, Susan of Griswold, William Heino and spouse, Gale of Voluntown; twelve grandchildren; two step grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Lydia was predeceased by her twin sister, Edna Selenius; brother, Toivo Suominen; and stepson, Rudolph Heino. Family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, September 15, 2012 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Leffler Funeral Home, 30 N. Main St., Jewett City with a funeral service planned at 3:00 pm. Interment to take place on Monday, September 17, 2012 at 11:00 am at Gossville (Hopkinson) Cemetery, Epsom, NH.
