Michaline Ann Brzycki Obituary
Michaline Ann Brzycki July 10, 1938 - December 21, 2011 LISBON - Michaline Ann "Mickey" Brzycki, 73, of Lisbon died on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 10, 1938 in Poland she was the daughter of the late Boleslaw and Emilia (Podolak) Altmajer. At age five Mickey and her family were taken from their home, in Poland, and brought to Germany where she spent several years in a German work camp. In 1950 her family immigrated to the United States and spent a short time in Preston before moving to New Jersey. It was at Ocean Beach in New London that she met her future husband Stanley Brzycki and after a short engagement they were married on April 22, 1961at St. Anthony's Church in Jersey City, NJ. They settled in Norwich and were married for forty-seven years until Stanley's death in 2008. For over twenty years she worked as a deli clerk at several different Big-Y grocery stores. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Norwich and sang in the choir for many years. Tending her garden and planting flowers were something she always enjoyed. She liked to crochet and was a talented seamstress who made her own clothes as well as clothes for her children and grandchildren. She could always be counted on when something needed to be fixed. She was well known for crocheting afghans which she would give as presents or donate to church or different organizations and charities such as the ECHO Foundation in Norwich or the UCONN Medical Health Center. Her greatest joy came from being a grandmother and spending time with her grandchildren. She was always there for them and adored each and every one of them. She is survived by her two daughters, Zuzanna "Sue" Olszewski and her husband Christopher of Canterbury and Lucia Leise and her husband Thomas of Lisbon; six grandchildren, Christopher, Kenneth and Elizabeth Olszewski and Joseph, Emilia and Maria Leise; two brothers, Peter and Benny Altmajer; a dear cousin Marie Bielawski; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Louis Altmajer. The funeral will assemble on Saturday at 9:00 A.M. at the Woyasz & Son Funeral Home, 141 Central Ave., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 6-8 P.M. Flowers will be accepted or you may make memorial contributions to either Masonicare, 339 Flanders Rd, East Lyme, CT 06333 or the ECHO Foundation, 330 Washington St, Suite 220, Norwich, CT 06360.
