Robert F. Gladding Feb. 16, 1923 - Aug. 14, 2014 PLAINFIELD - Robert F. Gladding, 91, of High St. Moosup beloved husband of the late Mildred (Marsh) Gladding passed away August 14, 2014. He was born February 16, 1923 in Montpelier, VT a son of the late William F. and Jenny (Hutchinson) Gladding. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served under General Patton. Mr. Gladding had lived in Moosup since 1996 moving from Columbia. He was employed by Gerber Scientific in South Windsor for 20 years and Pratt & Whitney for 20 years. Mr. Gladding retired from Gerber in 1988. He was a member of Moriah Lodge # 15 AF & AM in Brooklyn and a member of the VFW in Coventry. Mr. Gladding enjoyed NASCAR racing and "His Girls", UCONN women's basketball. He leaves a son Donald F. Gladding and his wife Patricia of Moosup; a sister Kathryn Breer of GA. Formerly of Barre, VT; two grandchildren James F. Gladding and Judith Ann Brod, one great granddaughter Jamie Ann Frances Gladding. He was predeceased by two sisters Ruth Densmore and Mary Badger. A Memorial Service will be conducted at Dougherty Bros. Funeral Home 595 Norwich Rd.Plainfield on Monday (09-08-2014) at 7:00 P.M. with a Masonic Service to follow at 7:30 P.M.
