Robert M. "Spud" Madden Obituary
Robert "Spud" M. Madden Feb. 4, 1968 - Feb. 3, 2014 Norwich - Robert "Spud" M. Madden, 45, of Norwich, passed away unexpectedly on February 3, 2014 at W.W. Backus Hospital in Norwich. He was born on February 4, 1968 in Oradell, New Jersey, the son of Thomas and Susan (Madden) Simons. Robert graduated from Robert E. Fitch Senior High School in 1987 and served in the United States Army upon graduation. He was currently employed at Foxwoods Casino as a Security officer. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Football Giants and was a loving father, son, brother and friend to all. Robert is survived by his parents, Susan and Thomas Simons, fiancé Ariana Campbell; his adoptive father, Daniel Sperduto, four sons, Joshua Doubleday, Robert J., Hayden, and Jared Madden; two daughters, Kaitlin and Emma Madden; three sisters, Christine (Ken) Atkins, Connie (Mike) Lewis, and Danette (Jason) Mackin; grandmothers Amy Sperduto and Margaret Madden; uncle John Madden; and aunt Margaret Toscano. A celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 from 2-4 P.M. at the Byles- Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames Street, Groton. Interment will be private. There are no calling hours.
