Sheila Lavoie Died March 11, 2013 Danielson- Sheila Lane (Houghton) Lavoie, of Manteo, NC, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 11, 2013. Formerly from Danielson, CT, she relocated to NC 6 years ago to enjoy her retirement. Sheila was the daughter of the late Earl Andrew Converse and Medora Bessette Converse. She was the widow of Raymond O. Lavoie. She is survived by her children, Glenn St. Onge, his wife, Kate; Kirk St.Onge, his wife, Joanne all of CT; Mark St. Onge, his wife, Cathy, of FL; Michelle Lavoie, her husband, John C. Paulus of NC; sisters, Beverly and Judi, both of CT; brothers: George and Roy, both of CT, and Ron of FL; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several cousins and many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn and two brothers, Richard and Doug. Sheila worked for over 20 years at Buyrite Building Supplies in Killingly, CT where she was the bookkeeper. She left Buyrite to pursue her dream of opening a bookstore. She opened BookNook in Dayville, CT. It was labeled a favorite in town. While in the Outer Banks, she was an active member of the community volunteering at Hot Line, an organization for battered women/families. She also worked for the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau as a member of their phone team where she answered tourist questions concerning visiting the Outer Banks. She was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Sheila was an avid reader, loved collecting seagulls, and being near the ocean. She enjoyed staying in touch with her family on Facebook. She was a fan of pogo and managed her own EBay store. She met and became friends with people online as well. She enjoyed being outdoors and tending her flowers. Her love for her family, friends, and life was obvious by her thoughtful gestures and her overall kindness. A Funeral Mass service will be held at St. Joseph's Church, Rte. 101, Dayville, CT at 10:30am, Friday, April 5, 2013. A celebration of her life will be held after the service at the American Legion Hall Post 67, Rte. 200, N. Grosvenordale, CT.
