Zygmunt Czachor Obituary
Zygmunt Czachor April 26, 1947 - July 27, 2012 Norwich - Zygmunt Czachor, 65, of Norwich, died at home in his sleep on Friday, July 27th. Zygmunt, or Ziggy, as many of his friends liked to call him, was born in Poland on April 26, 1947. He served in the Polish Army as an accomplished chef and baker. He immigrated to the United States in 1974. He married in 1980 and started his family with the birth of his daughter, Katarzyna in 1982 and his son, Albert, in 1986. He used his skills as a chef and baker and went on to work at Arwood for 26 years as a metalworker until his retirement in 2005. Zygmunt loved to fish, travel with his family, go to the beach, go shopping, take his children to restaurants, cook for other people, and he loved to go for rides with his son in his convertible with the top down. He loved his children more than himself, proud of his gentle and giving daughter, her job, her new car and so proud of his son of whom he constantly bragged about his accomplishments, saying how smart he is and how he will become a doctor or a pharmacist. His favorite TV shows were Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, which he almost never failed to miss. He also loved to be generous and give to his friends, and especially his family and his children. His fridge was always stocked with his friends‘ and childrens‘ favorite food and drinks. Above all else, Zygmunt loved and cared for his children and his family. Everyone who came in contact with Zygmunt immediately recognized his friendly, caring and giving nature. He was predeceased by his parents and sister Sophie Bryk. He is survived by his wife Janina, his children Katarzyna and Albert Czachor of Uncasville, sister Halina Mazur of Poland, numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces and his little dog Fluffy. The funeral will assemble on Tuesday, July 31, at 8:45 A.M. at the Woyasz & Son Funeral Home, 141 Central Ave, Norwich, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 6-8 P.M.
