Martin Ulpus Obituary
Martin Ulpus Feb. 10, 1919 - Feb. 2, 2014 BEAVERCREEK, OH. - Martin Ulpus, 94, of Beavercreek, OH and former longtime resident of Canterbury passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Liberty Nursing Center of Beavercreek. He was born in Tallinn, Estonia on February 10, 1919, son of the late John and Anna (Nikolae) Ulpus. A veteran of WWII he served in the Estonian Legion and worked as a civilian for US forces in southern Germany. He immigrated to the United States in 1949. He enjoyed repairing and building everything from stereos to guitars. Mr. Ulpus worked at Kaman Aerospace as a production model maker for over 20 years until his retirement. During that same time he ran a small poultry farm in Canterbury. His wife Virve (Utso) Ulpus preceded him in death. He is survived by his son Martin Ulpus of Roanoke, VA; daughter Ann (Ulpus) Maki (son-in-law Earl) of Beavercreek, OH, grandchildren Erik Maki of Duluth, MN and Aileen Maki of Cincinnati, OH. In Estonia he is survived by nephew Peeter Ulpus, nieces Marianne (Ulpus) Sepp, Meeli (Ulpus) Lepp and their families. He leaves longtime friends in Connecticut, the New York area, California and new friends in Ohio. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 2:00 P.M. in Tillinghast Funeral Home, 433 Main Street, Danielson CT. Burial will be in the spring in South Cemetery, Brooklyn. A calling hour will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations in his name may be made to the or favorite charity.
