Neil "Patrick" Hartung Jr. Obituary
Neil "Patrick" Hartung, Jr. Pat Hartung, 44, of Uncasville, died unexpectedly, Friday, May 2, 2014. Pat was born July 10, 1969, in New London, the son of Neil and Karen (Bradley) Hartung. Pat graduated from Ella Grasso Tech in 1987. He was employed as a Corrections Officer for the State of CT for over 17 years. On October 1, 1993, Pat was united in marriage to his wife, Michell (Jones) Hartung at St. Mary's Church in Mystic. In addition to his wife, Michell, and his parents, Neil and Karen, Pat is survived by his in-laws Robert and Suzann Jones of Southport, NC., his three daughters, Ashleigh, Alyson and Abigail Hartung, all at home, his brother and his wife, Christopher and Anna Hartung of Waterford, his brother Joseph Hartung of Waterford, his sisters-in-laws, Chrystal Causey of Oak Island, NC and Mackenzie Jones of Southport, NC, and his nephew John and niece Caitlynn. He was pre-deceased by his grandparents, Henry and Marion Bradley and Art and Phyllis Hartung. The light from a shining star in our lives went out Friday, when Pat took his own life. It is hard to understand how he could feel so alone when he was so loved by his family and friends. His contagious laugh and smile could brighten anyone's day. His ability to love and forgive others was remarkable. He was kind, gentile and sensitive to the feelings of others. Pat had a huge heart and wore it on his sleeve. Anyone that knew Pat, knew that his wife and children meant the world to him, evident by all of the stories he has told about them. They were his pride and joy and Pat would rather be with them than anywhere else. He was happiest when the five of them were all together. He especially enjoyed watching his daughters' softball games. Pat, we love you so very much and miss you more than you'll ever know. We understand your pain was just too great for you to bear. May God bless you and heal you, and grant you the peace that you lacked for so many years. We miss you so much and you will never be forgotten and will always be in our hearts. Your girls will continue to make you proud for the rest of their lives. Calling hours will be from 5-7 P.M. on Wednesday, May 7 at Montville Funeral Home of Church & Allen, 53 Norwich-New London Tpke, Uncasville. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, May 8, at 11A.M., at St. John's Church in Uncasville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Core Plus Memorial Fund Hartung, 40 Boston Post Road, Waterford, CT 06385.
