Nellie Marcolini Bienkowski Obituary
Nellie Marcolini Bienkowski 1919 - 2014 EWING, NJ - Nellie Marcolini Bienkowski died peacefully at Greenwood House in Ewing, NJ, with her children close by on August 20, 2014. Nellie Ramonek was born in 1919 of Belo-Russian parents. In 1947, she married Hugo Marcolini, who predeceased her in 1979. Their children are Ronald Marcolini of Bowie, MD, who married Patricia Sobieski, and Darlene Marcolini of Lawrenceville, NJ, who married Anthony DeJessa. Nellie and Hugo's four grandchildren are Timothy, Traci, and Rebecca Marcolini, all of Maryland, and Anthony DeJessa in NJ. Twin 19 month old great grandchildren are Nicholas and Nadia Marcolini. Nellie married Stephen Bienkowski in 1985. A Connecticut resident over 80 years, Nellie spoke fluent Russian and Polish, and learned English in elementary school. During the War she worked at Hamilton Propeller, a "Rosie the Riveter." In her prime she was a dedicated wife and mother. She spent considerable energy on community service at St. Johns church and tending flowers, shrubs and vegetables in her yard. Her Hostas live on in gardens of her loved ones. Since moving to Lawrenceville, NJ ten years ago, Nellie loved to go to church, pray, attend bible study and take long afternoon walks in the fresh air with her walker. Michael's Diner and first-Sunday fellowship luncheons at Grace Bible Church were favorites, but a good appetite was noted at any restaurant! She always said Grace before a meal. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 25, at 11:00 A.M. at the Woyasz & Son Funeral Home, 141 Central Ave, Norwich. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday form 4-6 P.M. and again from 10 – 11 A.M. on Monday. In lieu of flowers, Ron and Darlene were moved by the warm and compassionate care given by Nellie's nurses and aides, and request any donations be sent in her name to: Greenwood House Holiday Fund, 53 Walter St., Ewing, NJ 08628.
