Taylor Williams Obituary
Putnam - Taylor Justin Williams, 26, was tragically killed on Sunday, August 14, 2016 in Kingsland, GA. Taylor was born November 6, 1989 in Putnam, CT. He attended Brooklyn public schools and Woodstock Academy. He graduated from, Haines City High School in Florida in 2007.
Taylor thrived in athletics and had a passion for life, a love of adventure, and a strong desire to help others. He was an EMT/firefighter at East Brooklyn Fire Department. He received a Heroism Award after rushing into a burning building to carry a man to safety. Referred to by his Army brothers as "Doc Williams," Taylor was a veteran of the U.S. Army, honorably serving two tours of duty in Afghanistan as a medic. Eager to follow in the footsteps of his mother and stepfather, Taylor hoped to one day be a physician's assistant. Taylor was a compassionate friend and family member who always had time for others. Taylor enjoyed fishing, hunting, mudding, and carpentry.
Taylor is survived by his mother, Nichole Flannery Williams and fiancé, Terry Baksh of Brooklyn, CT; father and stepmother Stuart and Tina Williams of St. Marys, GA; his brother Troy Stuart Williams of Kingsland, GA; his grandparents Donna and Richard Ratelle and Douglas and Rita Flannery of Danielson, CT; uncles and aunts including Barbara Healey, Debra Morrison, Douglas Flannery and Ryan Ratelle.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Westfield Congregational Church (210 Main Street, Danielson, CT) starting promptly at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memory of SPC Taylor Justin Williams, Army Medic, to www.pawsandstripes.org, a nonprofit organization providing service dogs for wounded military veterans with PTSD - "not all wounds are visible."

Its been 3 years since this terrible tragedy, something I will never forget. Helping Niki through this was the hardest thing to witness. Keep your family close and love them with everything you have, you never know.

I have some great memories of Taylor. He was usually one of the first ones to greet me when I would stop by the family's home to visit. He always seemed to be in the center of the activity - not always because he put himself in the middle, but simply because people enjoyed his company. Always quick with humor, he would often burst into the room and pretend he could sing a certain song or act out a scene.....but never stuck around long enough to hear the critiques!! ;) What I remember most is his young voice lovingly egging on his Meme. He had mastered the art of being a jokester, then laughing it off and throwing his arm around the people around him. I saw it often with his Meme and his Mom, and it always made me smile. Still does. You are sorely missed, Taylor.

Nichole and family,
My heart aches for you all. This terrible tragedy is something no family should face. I remember Taylor and I exchanged a few messages prior to his first deployment and he asked me to "take care of mom"-- he loved you dearly Nichole. He served this country proudly and accomplished wonderful things. I know you'll all miss him every day for the rest of your lives. May God be with you all during this very difficult time. Taylor - you deeply, deeply missed. Rest well!

My heart broke when I heard the news today. Taylor, you have always been a student that had a special place in my heart. I remember that little blonde hair blue-eyed boy that had a lot of energy in 6th grade. It made my day when you came to visit years later and you were so proud of your accomplishments....I hope you knew how proud I was of you too. You had become such a lovely young man with so much to offer. I always knew you would do something to help people. No words can express how truly proud I am to hear of all the wonderful accomplishments that you have done in your life. It was my pleasure to have known you!!! Thank you for your service to our country. It is evident that you have touched so many lives and we are all so lucky to have had you in our lives. Tay, you were taken from this world way too soon. Your laugh would catch the attention of everyone in the room. You were one of the bravest men I know, but you still had that little kid laugh none of us will ever forget. You could put a smile on anyone's face, just by showing them yours. After all we've been through the past few weeks, I still can't believe you're gone. You left way too soon and I will never understand why. I'm so glad we got to see each other this past 4th of July.
