Irene Reilly Obituary
Irene Reilly November 25, 1919 - October 14, 2011 Canterbury - Irene "Toots" Reilly, 91, passed away early Friday morning at Village Manor Health Care. She was born November 25, 1919 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, and made Canterbury her home. Those who know Irene saw that she was a fighter; she battled leukemia and breast cancer during her lifetime, and still continued to live a full life. Irene was a member of the Quinebaug Travelers Camping Club, the Canterbury Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, the Canterbury Seniors, and was a communicant of St. Augustine Church. Irene was the beloved wife of Earl C. Reilly, of more than 50 years. He predeceased her on July 7, 2006. Survivors include a son James Reilly of Canterbury, a daughter Earleen Armstrong of Canterbury, three grandchildren Cheryl Armstrong of Norwich, Dan Armstrong of Canterbury, and Jennifer Armstrong of Canterbury. She was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 10 AM at Dougherty Bros. Funeral Home, 595 Norwich Road in Plainfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Augustine Church in Canterbury, with burial in St. John Cemetery in Plainfield. A calling hour will be held Tuesday from 9 - 10 AM.
