Arthur T. Grodotzke, Jr April 29, 1919 - December 13, 2011 Norwich - Arthur T. Grodotzke, Jr. 92, beloved husband of Lois M. Grodotzke, of Old Canter-bury Tpke., Norwich died Tuesday at the Backus Hospital. Arthur was born in Norwich, April 29, 1919, the son of the late Arthur T. and Antoinette (Hamann) Grodotzke. He was a N.F.A. graduate of the class of 1937, and the Willimantic Trade School. Following his graduation, he was employed as a machinist at the Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Corp. of East Hartford prior to entering the U.S Marine Corps. He served in the Pacific theater, during World War II. On May 28, 1949, he married Lois M. Bausch, at the Greenville Congregational Church. Prior to his retirement in 1981, he worked as a Physical Science Technician for the Naval Underwater Sound Laboratory. Mr. Grodotzke was a longtime member of the St. Mark Lutheran Church of Norwich, and the Order of the Herman Sons Germania Lodge. In addition to his beloved wife, Lois, he is survived by, his daughter and her husband, Carolyn and Edward Shea of Preston, his son and his wife, Carlton and Diana Grodotzke, of Tolland, two grandsons, Brian Shea and his wife Melissa and Timothy Shea, and two nieces and two nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Ruth Clapp. Arthur will always be remembered as a kind, and caring gentleman by all of those who knew him. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:00 AM. At the Preston City Congregational Church, 321 Rte. 164, Preston, CT. Internment of his cremains will follow, with military honors, at the Maplewood Cemetery, Norwich. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Preston City Congregational Church in his memory.
