Mark A. Mills May 14, 1957 - March 19, 2013 Griswold - Mark Anthony Mills, 55, of 70 Chiou Dr, Griswold, passed away Tuesday at the William W. Backus Hospital with his family by his side after a lengthy battle with lung cancer. He was born May 14, 1957 in Gainesville, Florida to James and Lorraine Mills. He was a former Fitch Falcon Alumni who excelled in football and wrestling. He went on to serve his country as a part of the 264th Engr. Co in the United States Army. Upon being honorably discharged, Mark began his career at Electric Boat where he has worked for the past 35 years in the rigging department, making his way up to General Foreman. Along the way, he met and married the love of his life of 31 years, Tracie Mills. In addition to his wife, Mark is survived by his daughter, Tabatha Balabin, his son James Mills, daughter-in-law, Natasha (Wood) Mills, brother James Mills, and sisters Patricia Rollins and Michelle Falconi and numerous other extended family members. Mark is predeceased by his mother Lorraine J. (Northup) Mills and sister Amy Mills. Mark loved his job and he considered his coworkers to be part of his family. When not working, Mark loved having fun. He spent a lot of time with family and friends, attended and hosted many horseshoe parties and enjoyed listening to music. He was a true handyman and loved gardening and working around the house. He loved sports and was an avid Boston Bruins, Red Sox and New York Giants fan. The thing Mark cherished most in life, however, was being Papa to his three grandsons: Dominic Balabin, Kolby and Mason Mills. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church in Jewett City on Saturday, at 11:00 AM, with Military Honors being presented immediately following church services. The funeral will assemble at church. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be from 5:00-8:00 P.M. on Friday at the Gagne-Piechowski Funeral Home 490 Voluntown Rd Jewett City
