Thomas V. DeMauro Sr. Died - August 4, 2013 Norwich - Thomas V. DeMauro Sr. , 87, of Norwich, entered the arms of the Lord on Sunday August 4th, 2013. He was born in Norwich on July 23rd to the late Vincent and Nora (Simoneau) DeMauro, Tom is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Elizabeth (Daniels) whom he married on June 27th 1953 at St Mary's Church in Norwich. He is also survived by their five children Thomas DeMauro Jr., Debra Makara, Terri Hart, Richard DeMauro and Michael DeMauro as well as his sixteen grandchildren, along with his many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Tom is predeceased by all of his siblings. Tom served in the United States Army during World War II. He was in the First Class Company B 11th Engineer Battalion. Upon his honorable discharge he came home to Norwich to marry the love of his life Elizabeth and became a Firefighter for the City of Norwich for over 37 years. Tom is one of the survivors of the Van Tassel blast in Norwich on April 3rd, 1962. When Tom retired from the Fire Dept. he became a crossing guard for the City of Norwich until his retirement. Tom was a devoted Yankee's fan and loved his family and church. He was a lifelong active member at St Mary's Church in Norwich. He loved to Garden, as well as doing crossword puzzles and the daily Jumbles in the Bulletin. Family and friends may visit Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Ave, Norwich on Thursday August 8th from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday August 9th at St. Patrick Cathedral in Norwich. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Norwich.
