Donald J. Gadle Mar. 15, 1930 - May 9, 2014 Norwich - Donald J. Gadle 84, of 136 Hunters Rd. died unexpectedly Friday May 9th at his home. He was born in Norwich on March 15, 1930 the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Krodel) Gadle. Don was a Korean War Army veteran having enlisted on October 26, 1950 and was honorably discharged on October 25, 1953 with the rank of Corporal. He was employed for 38 years as a plant test man for CL&P in Montville retiring in 1992. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Taftville. Don was an avid sports fan. First and foremost a season ticket holder for both UCONN football and his beloved UCONN women's basketball program which he followed to six Final Four National Championships with his three close friends, Deb Bilda, Lisa Casey and Dot McCulley. In 2009 he fulfilled a lifelong dream of purchasing a 1930 Model A truck which he enjoyed riding through Taftville Village and Norwich on nice days. He is survived by one daughter, Carol of Mystic. One son, Bob of Chicago, IL. Two nephews Mark and David.He was predeceased by one son, Kenneth who died in 1998 and one sister Evelyn Patterson. A calling hour will be held Wednesday from 8:30 A.M. until 9:30 A.M. at the Guillot Funeral Home 75 South B. St. Taftville followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church in Taftville at 10:00 A.M. Burial of cremains will follow in Maplewood Cemetery Norwich. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Taftville Vol Fire Dept. Providence St. Taftville, CT 06380
