PELWECKI, Leopold Adalbert August 13, 1931 - October 13, 2013
On October 13 Leo passed away peacefully at home. Leo was born in Itzkany Romania where he lived with his mother Maria and father Nikolaus until he was 8 years old. He then settled in Hallein, Austria where he became a mechanic. In 1956 he immigrated to Canada and lived in Toronto where he met his lovely wife Ingrid. In 1967 he moved from Toronto to Vancouver where he started Benz transmissions and ultimately settled. He loved Canada for its opportunity, size and beauty, but mostly loved spending time with his family on the lakes in Ontario, where he first settled, and then being with his sons on the beautiful ocean and coastline in BC. Leo will be sadly missed for his strength, intelligence, honesty, guidance and love by all that knew him. He was a great husband, a great father, and a great entrepreneur. He always made other's priorities his own and for that his family at home and the family at Benz will always remember him. Leo enjoyed getting dressed up with Ingrid and dancing with a group of friends. He loved fishing and we will always remember the stories of the 60 pounder or the great experiences we shared with him on and around the water. He took up golf at 67 after chipping in for birdie on his third hole. He loved being with his sons on the course from then on. Leo is survived by his loving wife Ingrid, his children Gerhard, Richard, Robert and Gina and his 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. In his later years his love and joy was walking with and caring for his beautiful toy poodle 'Angel'. His Angel extended his life and happiness. There will be no formal service at his request, but all family and friends are invited to a reception at the family's home.
