Norman Noble Obituary

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Earl Noble. Earl was born in St. Albert, Alberta, and raised in North Vancouver. After graduating from North Van High School in 1941, Earl joined the Royal Canadian Air Force where he became a flight officer with commission. From 1945 until 1950, he drove a logging truck until he and his father, Morley, built Nova Lumber in North Vancouver. Earl owned and continued to work at Nova Lumber until 1988 when it was sold.

Earl never lost his love for flying, and had several airplanes and helicopters over the years. He also loved to fish, skeet shoot, duck hunt, ski and golf, and was a long time member of Capilano Golf Club.

Earl will be greatly missed by his children Greg, Vic (Carol), and Pam (Ian), his grandchildren Ashley (Craig), Brooke (Devon), Dustin, Spencer, Michelle and Brittni, and his great granddaughter Maddy. He will be remembered by many for his sense of humour and his generosity.

The family will be holding a private service.

We just learned of Earl's passing this evening. My parents, Ted and Maxine Thordarson enjoyed many years of friendship with Earl and family. Holidays spent together in Hawaii and Earl flying his plane to our family cottage in Kelowna are some of our memories. He came out to Pitt Meadows for dad's 80th birthday and had a good visit and shared some memories. Our condolences to the family.

So sorry to hear of Earl's passing. Our father, Herb Gabel, was an employee at Nova Lumber for many, many years. We always remember the fun days when we were allowed to visit the mill, either when dad was taking us to lunch or mom was dropping him off so he could fly off with Earl to look at logging camps. Dad passed 7 years ago but the good memories of working at Nova Lumber have stayed with us all. Earl was a wonderful man and an outstanding employer. May he rest in peace. Sincere condolences from the Gabel family.

Sorry to hear of Earl's passing. It was just last week that I was reminiscing about flying in Earl's helicopter with his son Vic. Rest in peace Earl.
