ELNEWEIHI, Ahmed Feisal August 1, 1942 - March 20, 2014 Born in Tanta, Egypt, Ahmed immigrated to Vancouver in 1971. He passed peacefully at the North Shore Hospice after spending 2 months surrounded by loving family and close friends. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Georgina, brother Emad (in Chicago), his sons Tarek and Sameer, his daughters Dalia and Nadia, and his son in law Gavin. Ahmed will be fondly remembered for his kind heart, caring nature, and generousity. He had a large presence and carried himself with strength and confidence. Ahmed enjoyed spending time with family, socializing with friends, and had a great love for music and travelling. His sense of humour will be remembered by all those who had the privilege of hearing his loud and contagious laugh. Ahmed graduated with honour from the University of Cairo in 1964. He was a hard worker who was extremely proud of and dedicated to the field of electrical engineering. He worked and mentored at BC Hydro for 43 years as a Specialist Engineer in Protection and Control Planning. He was also a dedicated member and contributor to the IEEE throughout his career. In his spare time Ahmed helped establish the Egyptian Academy and continued as a board member and major contributor to the Egyptian Canadian Cultural Society of BC. Ahmed's family would like to thank the caring staff at the North Shore Hospice for the comfort and kindness they provided him, as well as the other nurses, doctors and staff who assisted with his care over the past 6 years. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the North Shore Hospice, Vancouver General Hospital, or Lions Gate Hospital Foundation. A celebration of Ahmed's life is scheduled for 2pm on Sunday April 6th at the UBC John M.S. Lecky Boathouse, 7277 River Road, Richmond.
