ELLWYN - Allan Keith December 5, 1942 - February 6, 2015 Allan Keith Ellwyn passed away peacefully on February 6, 2015 with his children by his side. Keith was 72 years old. Keith was born in New Westminster and later moved to Richmond where he met his future wife, Elizabeth Dale Thompson in high school. They went on to get married in Richmond and had two children, Brent (Tram) Ellwyn and Janet (Ted) Moore (nee Ellwyn). They moved to Ladner in 1965 to a brand new house and lived there ever since. Keith was a helicopter mechanic, as was his father Albert (Hank) and his older brother Bruce. Work took Keith to many places in Canada, the US and even Jamaica while he worked for Okanagan Helicopters and later Deltaire Industries. In 1980 he started his own helicopter repair business under the name of Falcon Helicopters Ltd. Keith and Dale worked tirelessly establishing the business with Dale doing all the bookkeeping while Keith worked long hours growing a loyal customer base. They both worked in the business until 2001 when Keith's health took a turn. By 2004 he was very ill until he was given the gift of life; a new heart, which restored his health. Keith and Dale were able to spend the next several years enjoying retirement until Dale became ill and passed away in 2011. The next phase of Keith's life was focused on family and in particular his four cherished granddaughters Gillian (13) and Allison (11) Moore and Keira (11) and Isabella (9) Ellwyn. Keith was never too far from the hockey arena, soccer field or concert hall watching them in their various activities. Throughout his lifetime Keith was a dedicated son to Hank and Dorothy Ellwyn, brother to Bruce (Eudene), Terry, Tim (Revelin) Ellwyn and Judith (Bob) Blacker, uncle to many wonderful nieces and nephews, husband and father. Keith was loved by family and friends alike. He made friends easily and even during his last few months in Delta Hospital, he always had a kind word and a friendly smile for the doctors, nurses and visitors alike. There will be a celebration of life for Keith at the Fisherman's Hall in Ladner on Sunday, March 29, 2015 between 3:00pm - 5:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Delta Hospital.
