It is with great sadness that we bid our final farewell to beloved Edmund Potrzebowski of Tsawwassen, husband of Danuta, father to Jolanta and Margaret and grandfather to Matthew.
Edmund was born in Chorzow, Poland. While pursuing his degrees in Economics and in Physical Education, he persevered in his passion for track and field. Edmund's hard work, discipline and exceptional work ethics brought him well deserved recognition as an outstanding athlete.
After Edmund stopped competing he worked as a coach in Cuba and Mexico. The whole family cherished the opportunity to travel to foreign countries, getting to know people, places and languages.
Upon Edmund's retirement from working in Mexico he and Danuta joined their daughters in Canada where he made his home for the last 19 years. Edmund's life was marked by dedication to his professional career and loyalty and devotion to his family. He loved his quiet life. Reading, swimming, spending some family time, walking Mickey (the dog) and collecting stamps seemed to give Edmund contentment.
Edmund was a principled man with unwavering personal integrity. In all of his life circumstances he remained true to himself, unassuming, humble, respectful and honourable.
Edmund's life came to an end as a result of complications from dementia. Edmund will be sorely missed. His legacy will go on.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Krawchuk for her involvement in Edmund's care, and deep appreciation for the dedication of the staff at the Kin Village Care Home.
The burial service will take place on Sunday, June 3rd at 2pm at the Boundary Bay Cemetery in Tsawwassen.
In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to Kin Village Care Home in Tsawwassen.
