HUTCHISON, Gloria Mae August 25, 1932 - September 11, 2013 . Gloria Mae Hutchison passed away peacefully with her three children by her side at 5:00 AM Wednesday morning after a short and courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her father Mr. Thomas Miller Davis, her mother Mrs. Florence Violet Hall, her stepfather Mr. Charles Hall, her husband Mr. Robert Gordon Henry Hutchison and her sister Mrs. Pauline Voigt. She is survived by her three children, Rosslyn (Debbie), Fiona (Hal), Robert (Leanne) and three grandchildren Jessica Barnett, Stephanie Victoria Barnett and Mia Barnett as well as many friends who considered her family. Her warmth and humor brought joy to all she met. She was born in Mexico City and attended the American school where by all accounts she was popular, active in school activities and well liked by everyone. After graduating in 1950 she was accepted as a flight attendant with Guest Airways. She flew for the airline for three and a half years before meeting and marrying Lieutenant Commander Robert 'Gordon' Henry Hutchison. They settled in England and the first two of their three children were born. In three years Gordon left the navy and went back to Mexico City reconnecting with all of Gloria's family and friends. A short time later they moved to North Vancouver to the home and the neighborhood that Gloria would remain for the rest of her life. A third child was born three years later and an active fun filled life followed. The family spent a great deal of time playing tennis and making friends at Hollyburn Country Club. Gloria had the gift for friendship and warmth. The house became a very social place and all her children's friends knew her affectionately as Mrs. 'H'. She was beloved by all of them and remained close to them for the rest of her life. She worked at Sears in the Linen department for 27 years and made many friends during her time there. She traveled extensively and maintained close friendships with high school chums through their reunions (pachangas). She also loved to drive down to Napa to visit her three granddaughters. The light has dimmed just a little now that Gloria is gone and she will be dearly missed by her family and everyone who crossed her path. We love you very much Mom and you will live on in all of us. Many thanks to the North Shore Palliative Care team and the North Shore Hospice for the exceptional compassion, care and support they provided to all of us throughout this difficult time. A celebration of her life will be held at the Boal Chapel in North Vancouver on October 4, 2013 at 2 p.m. followed by a gathering of friends.
