Isabel Donna Margaret (Babs) Benedict, 81, of Ladner B.C. passed away on January 22, 2014, after a long stubborn battle with cancer. Isabel was born in Abbotsford, B.C. on January 16, 1933. A daughter to Margaret (Mckay) and Donald Benedict. She attended Kitsilano High School and later graduated from Fairview High School of Commerce in 1951. Her business career included Retail Credit Granters, BBC - TV, in England, and then with PWA and Canadian Airlines. Her volunteer work saw her at COPS in Ladner, Isabel joined Beta Sigma Phi in 1951 in Vancouver, and later transferred to Delta Area Council. She was an active member with the Alpha Lambda Master Chapter and held many executive positions. Isabel was also an avid quilter and enjoyed 'stitching and chatting' with the ladies. Isabel is survived by her brother Ross, sister in-law Gail (Archer), niece Cory (David Lennon), God Daughter Cheryl Davie, cousins Belle Lee (Iver) and Doug Benedict (Janet), her dear cat Piggles, numerous close friends, neighbors and fellow volunteers. Service and a Reception at 1:30, February 16 at McKee House, 5155 - 47th Ave., Delta, B.C. In lieu of flowers, she asked that donations be made to The B.C. Branch of the Canadian Diabetes Association, # 360-1385 West 8th Avenue , Vancouver, BC, V6H 3V9 or Ladner United Church Building Fund, 4960- 48 Ave., Delta, B.C. V4K 4X6.
