Ken passed away peacefully on the Easter weekend in Lions Gate hospital. He was predeceased by his wife Shirley in February of 1999.
He is fondly remembered by daughter Wendy (Tony) Kluge and son Mark (Cathy). Grandchildren Jennifer (Kai) Alberring, Jeff Kluge, James Kluge, Jason Kluge, Heather Sinclair, David Sinclair, and great grandson Johann Alberring. Ken will also be missed by many relatives and good friends.
Ken was born in Ocean Falls in 1926 and moved to Vancouver when he was six years old. He married his High School Sweetheart, Shirley Ruth Ayling in 1950. They settled in North Vancouver to raise their family.
Ken worked for most of his professional life at H.A. Simons as an Electrical Engineer and was a Life Member of the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC. In past years he was an active member of the Lions Club. He enjoyed many voyages on his boat "Kele" and was a member of the Norvan Power Squadron.
In more recent times Ken was a member of the West Vancouver Lawn Bowling Club and a volunteer with the West Vancouver Seniors Centre, participating in both photography and wood carving.
We are grateful for Ken's care and support provided by Churchill House and Lions Gate Hospital staff.
At Ken's request there will be no formal service. There will be an informal open house to celebrate Ken's life at the West Vancouver Lawn Bowling Club, 650 20th Street, West Vancouver, on Saturday, April 28th, 2 - 4pm.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation, 231 E15th Street, North Vancouver, V7L 2L7 or the charity of your choice.
