GOODE, Lily (nee Whent) It is with great sadness we mourn the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on December 29th, 2013. Lily was born in Darlington, England and migrated with her family to Canada at the age of 2. She married Thomas Goode who recently passed away on June 27th, 2013. They would have celebrated their 70th anniversary this December. Lily was May Queen at Sir Alexander Mackenzie Elementary School in 1935. She was always very active in sports and in particular baseball. During WW2, Lily worked as a "Rosie-the-Riveter" and also played AAA baseball for Boeing Boilermaker's team. After raising her family she trained as an LPN and cared for sick babies and seniors during her career. Lily was an active member with the Phoenix Senior's Centre in Beachgrove as Treasurer until it closed. She is survived by her three children, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The family wish to express their sincere appreciation to Westshore Laylum staff for their warmth and excellent care the last two years and thanks to the Delta Hospital Emergency team. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Lily's name to West Shore Laylum, Delta. A Celebration of Life will take place in the summer.
