BIRCH - Patricia Jean It is with love and sadness that the family of Patricia Jean Birch (nee Ledgerwood) mark her passing in the early morning hours of Friday, December 27th, 2013 following a brief illness. Pat is survived by her husband of 54 years, Elliot John Birch (Jack), their son Robert John, daughter Catherine Patricia Jean Smith with husband Kenneth and family. She leaves behind her only brother, Ernest Ledgerwood, his wife Lynn, and their family, as well sisters'-in-law Mary Wrong and Mary Birch. Patricia was predeceased by her parents Ernest Francis (1935) and Jean Eva-May (nee Cook, 1997). Pat's great joy were her grandchildren Robert Lawrence, who held her till the end, and granddaughters Caitlyn Patricia and Victoria Elizabeth. We all love you Nana and we will miss your special meals and treats! Pat was a graduate of Magee High School, the Provincial Normal School and UBC Gold Medalist (BScHEc) in 1958. She had a wonderful career teaching at David Thompson and West Van Secondary Schools and created her own 'Special Occasion Catering' in 1991. Pat loved to travel and was present at the 1953 Coronation as a Girl Guide. She was a great reader, and artistic clothing designer and sewer and a talented cook who loved to entertain in her home. Her many close and supportive friends broadened her life and activities. Pat enjoyed written letters and messages of regard will be gratefully received by post or by email at A Memorial Service will be held in the Birch Home this summer for all of us.
