THOMSON, Peter Frank Born in Regina in 1930, Peter moved to Kelowna when he was 15. In 1956 he married his high school sweetheart, Merle Miller. He went on to the University of British Columbia to obtain an Electrical Engineering degree in 1959. Peter and Merle spent 57 years together as husband and wife and best friends. Two children, Stewart Peter and Stanley Robert gave Peter the opportunity to shine as a devoted father. He was especially active in coaching hockey and as a Cub Scout volunteer. Peter was a very proud grandfather to John and David, and loving father-in-law to Anne and Mary. Peter was an extraordinary 'Mr. Fix-It.' He was a skilled carpenter, mechanic, plumber, painter, and loved understanding the way things worked. Hired by B.C. Electric after graduating from U.B.C., Peter enjoyed his career as an electrical engineer. Peter also leaves behind his sister, Shirley Hoskins (nee Thomson), his brother Bob Thomson and wife Francoise, and many beloved nieces and nephews. He will be especially missed by his sister-in-law, Arva Read and his nephew and wife, Mark and Karen Read. Peter passed away peacefully in the early hours of Sunday, September 22, 2013. A memorial will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, October 18th at Boal Chapel and Memorial Gardens, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver.
