. MAYNES, THOMAS . May 24, 1946 - January 22, 2014 . It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas, following a long, hard battle with cancer. . Thomas was born and grew up in Glasgow, Scotland and immigrated to Canada in 1966, where he met and married his wife and together raised their two boys. . He was a plumber/pipefitter by trade, and was employed in the Nuclear Power and heavy construction industry. This meant for many moves with his family from Ontario to Minnesota, USA and then returning to Canada. After spending seven years in Alberta, the family finally made their home in BC in 1988. . Thomas loved and respected the mountains and he loved to read and to tell all of us stories, true life stories. He had a wonderful sense of humour and a very active mind. He was a very beloved husband, father and grandfather and will be missed so very much by his wife Carolyn of 46 years, sons Jamie (Tishanne), Mark (Shelley) and grandchildren Emily and Andrew. . Our family wishes to extend a Special Thank you to Dr. Ruth Turnbull for her outstanding care and support throughout a very difficult time. . A Celebration of Life will be held at Cammidge House, Boundary Bay Regional Park, Tsawwassen, BC, on Sunday, February 16th at 2:00 pm. . A donation in Thomas' memory to Irene Thomas Hospice, www.deltahospice.org, would be appreciated, in lieu of flowers. .
