SCOVIL, John Henry October 1, 1926 - April 27, 2014 "he is now in the garden by her side" It is with deep sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Jack on the 27th of April. He was born in St. Stephen, New Brunswick and attended UNB on a Beaverbrook Scholarship. He graduated from UNB in 1947 as a Civil Engineer. He met and married Shirley Anne Marie Veniot from Fredericton, NB in 1949 and they were happily married for over 60 years before her death in 2010. Jack was also predeceased by his son John Waterson Scovil (1992). During his career, Jack worked overseas, in a consulting position, in Malaysia, the UK, Kenya and the Philippines. Upon retirement, Jack and Shirley travelled extensively and Jack stayed very active playing tennis and bridge. For many years he belonged to the West Van Seniors Tennis Club, the St. Andrews Tennis Club, and the West Van Seniors Bridge Club. His loss is felt most by his two daughters Dianne and Susan, sons-in-law Gordon and Jeff, his five grandchildren Shaun (Ai), Brendan (Kathleen), Nick (Evelyn), Melanie (David), AJ (Clare), his sister Elaine, his two brothers Dick (Betty) and Ted (Audrey) and their respective families and the many other family members and friends that he enjoyed so much. He will be remembered as a loving husband and a supportive father. A special thanks to the Cardiac Unit at Lions Gate Hospital for their care and support. Jack's Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel of Ease, St. Andrews, NB on July 6th, 2014 at 2:00pm. For those wishing to share a memory of Jack, please visit Hollyburn Funeral Home 604-922-1221
