Valarie Jean Newman Sunrise: July 7, 1950 – Sunset: August 25, 2014 Valarie was born to her loving parents Charles Newman and Amelia Catherine (nee: Joseph) on July 7, 2050. Following a courageous and diligent fight against cancer, surrounded by love of her family Val passed away peacefully on August 25, 2014. She made medical journals and amazed doctors with tenacity all the while maintaining her faith and strength through the adversity of this illness. Val will always be remembered as the #1 dedicated Canuck Fan through Hockey Nation – win or lose she cheered on the Canucks. Valarie Jean Newman worked 23 years with Squamish Nation and will be dearly missed by her work family, generations of students, and friends of Squamish Nation Education – school boards from every region far and near. Val is survived by loving spouse Daniel Maxwell; daughters Jessica Kapos (Mike), Leah Newman (Chereik Johnson); son Dixon Newman (Jacqueline Farrar) with children father's Henry Lowe and very special daughter Kim Cole. Valarie will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Brandi Xavier and Tatiana Kapos, Chantrell and Keinomee Johnson, Sophie and Eloise Lowe. Valarie is also survived by her loving brother Chief Ronald 'Chum' Newman (Bonaro); sister Ruth Heintz; sister-in-law Suzanne; dear dear Auntie Stella Newman; and many loving nieces, nephews, loving relatives and dear friends. A Prayer Service will be held on August 28, 2014 (Thursday) at 7:30 pm; and a Funeral Service on August 29, 2014 (Friday) at 10:30 am both at St. Paul's Indian Catholic Church, 424 West Esplanade Road, North Vancouver, BC.
