Edgar Richard Baldwin, 90, of Front Royal, died on Monday, November 19, 2012, at Loving Arms Assisted Living.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Front Royal United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Gary Heaton. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.
Mr. Baldwin was born February 6, 1922 in Warren County, VA, son of Charles William Baldwin and Bessie Thompson Baldwin. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. Mr. Baldwin was a member of Front Royal United Methodist Church where he served in numerous capacities. He was a charter member of South Warren Ruritan Club, former Scout Leader with Troop #52, and was former chairman of the Warren County Democratic Party. He was married to the late Anna Hyacinth Partlow Baldwin.
Surviving are three daughters and their spouses, Kathryn Locke and husband John of Glen Arm, MD, Patricia Kerfoot and husband Mac of Mineral, VA, and Carolyn Braswell and husband Bill of Wingate, NC; five grandchildren, John Edgar Locke, Sara Kerfoot, Laura Kerfoot, Bess Braswell, and Molly Braswell; and two great-grandchildren, Smith Mathews and Ingrid Mathews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Front Royal United Methodist Church Stained Glass Restoration Fund, 1 West Main Street, Front Royal, VA 22630, or to the South Warren Ruritan Club Scholarship Fund, c/o Jack Pennington, 797 Running Bear Court, Front Royal, VA 22630.

I knew Mr. Baldwin when we both served on the Salvation Army Board and he was a great gentleman. I respected his knowledge and his service to others was a great example to us all. May God bless your family and be with you at this time.

Our sympathy to the family of Mr. Baldwin. I have good memories of him while growing up in the Methodist Church and in the best Boy Scout Troop #52. Then finally working with him. He was truly a servent of the Lord. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
