Michael (Mike) C. Haslacker, 52, of Winchester, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2013 at Winchester Medical Center. Michael was born on September 24, 1960. Mr. Haslacker suffered from Leukemia and numerous other illnesses.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Haslacker of Shanks, WV; and two brothers, Freddie Haslacker and Randy Haslacker, both of Shanks, WV.
He is survived by father, Fred Haslacker; three sisters, Robin Sanabria of Winchester, Melissa Kidwell of New Creek and Janet Hott of Augusta, WV; brother, Roger Haslacker of Shanks, WV; three children, Robert Haslacker of Woodstock, Dwight Haslacker of Edinburg and Christine Lucas of Strasburg; eight grandchildren, Michael, Marissa, Hannah, Bianca, Dwight Jr. Cierra, Patrick and Kaitlyn.
Michael served in the Army and was release with honorable discharge in 1980. He was employed as a truck driver for 25+ years and took pride in his work. He was known for his sense of humor, wearing cowboy boots and hat year round and was an avid "Roll Tide" fan. Michael also enjoyed reading the Bible and had completed countless bible courses over the years and even received a minister's license.
He recently moved back to Virginia after living in Alabama for several years to live with his sister, Robin and family, who took care of him during his illnesses and was especially close to his great-nephew, Oscar Garcia- Sanabria who was always by his side. He also shared a special bond with his beloved dog "Repeat".
The family would like to thank Valley Home Care staff and Winchester Medical Center for all their support, kindness and compassion shown over the past few months.
