Judith Eutsler Johnson, 89, of Woodstock, passed away on March 15, 2013.
She was born in Mount Meridian, Virginia, on May 9, 1923, the daughter of the late Frank Richard Johnson and Clara Eutsler Johnson.
She was a graduate of Woodstock High School and 1944 graduate of Madison College. While at Madison, she was a member of the Tri Sigma Sorority and Who's Who in American Universities and Colleges.
"Judy," as she was often called, was active in the Woodstock community. She was a devoted and lifetime member of the Woodstock United Methodist Church. During her membership, she taught Sunday School and Bible School. Additionally, she volunteered at the Woodstock Library, the Woodstock Museum, and the Clothes Closet. She also served as a Counselor at Camp Strawderman for Girls.
She married Dr. L. G. Johnson, also known as "Doc," on September 30, 1944. He preceded her in death on June 20, 2008.
Judy is survived by a sister, Jo Halpert of Midland, Texas; four sons, Rick and his wife Starr of Luray, Tom of Max Meadows, Frank of Mt. Jackson, and Bob of Woodstock. She is also survived by three grandsons, Brian of Edinburg, and John and Scott Johnson of Luray. A fourth grandson, Christopher, preceded her in death on April 18, 2009.
She enjoyed playing bridge, cooking, walking, and supporting her late husband Doc's enjoyment of antique cars, accompanying him to car meets and riding in Woodstock parades.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 21, at 11:00 a.m. at the Woodstock United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends immediately after the service at the Church Social Hall.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Shenandoah County Free Clinic, the Woodstock Museum, the Woodstock Library, or the Woodstock United Methodist Church.
