Lawrence Joseph Mandala, 67, of Edinburg, died at Winchester Medical Center, September 26, 2012.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 28, 2012, 2:00 p.m. at the Dellinger Funeral Home, Woodstock by Rev. Karen Van Stee. Burial will follow at Emanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Mr. Mandala was born January 26, 1945 at Arlington, Virginia. He was the son of the late Frank Joseph and Emily Frances Lloyd Mandala. He lived most of his life in Shenandoah County and was a graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School, Quicksburg.
He served in the U.S. Army
from 1963 to 1966 with Company B, 8th Engineer Battalion, U.S. Army Pacific and U.S. Army Reserves from 1966 to 1969. During his 40 year career, he was a electrician and lineman/ foreman working for Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative and at retirement, Sumpter Utilities, Inc, Sumpter, SC.
He was a avid hunter, loved his family farm, his dog Jake, and had a great interest in family and local history, and the Civil War. He was a member of Reformation Lutheran School, New Market.
In addition to his parents, his brother, John Frank Mandala (1936-1946), preceded him in death.
He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly L. Estep and husband Kevin; grandchildren, Chandler A. Estep and Cheyenne S. Estep, all of Mount Jackson and Ethan Wiles of Toms Brook; in addition he leaves many dear cousins and friends; and a dear friend, Carolyn F. Abbott.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Dellinger Funeral Home, Woodstock.
