O. Wayne Gochenour(1930-2014)

Orvan Wayne Gochenour, 84, of Baker, WV died on Monday, March 10, 2014 at his home while under the care of Grant Memorial Hospice.

Wayne was born on January 31, 1930 in Baker, WV a son of the late John H. and Amanda Earl Gochenour. He was a farmer and worked for the Abex Corporation in Winchester for 38 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wardensville, WV.

Wayne married Zenith Smith Gochenour on October 7, 1949 in Hagerstown, MD. Mrs. Gochenour died on February 5, 1993.

Surviving is a son: John W. Gochenour and his wife Dawn of Harrisonburg, VA; a daughter: Sharon D. McMenamin of North Carolina; nine grandchildren: Angelina McDonald, Serena Stevenson, Tabatha Wagner, Joni Gochenour- Lehman, Keri Frye, Shannon Kabotka, Heather Blaylock, Jimmy McMenamin and Tiffanni Stanford; and 13 great grandchildren.

Wayne is preceded in death by a daughter: Patsy L. Davis; three brothers: Curtis, Lester and Hubert Gochenour and a sister: Glenna Shanholtz.

A funeral service will be at the First Baptist Church on Friday, March 14, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be Rev. Brent Smith and Rev. Sherwin Tharp. Internment will follow in the Zion Cemetery in Arkansaw, WV.

Family will receive friends at the Loy-Giffin Funeral Home in Wardensville, WV on Thursday, March 13, 2014 from 6-8 PM.
