Ralph Tildon Palmer, 82, of Front Royal, VA died on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Winchester Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 16, at 11:00 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home conducted by Pastor Ken Sparks. Burial will follow at Bennett's Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Palmer was born August 9, 1931 in Warren County, VA, son of Harry Tildon Palmer and Clara Kendall Palmer.
He served in Germany as a Corporal in the U.S. Army and was assigned to Special Services as an entertainer. Mr. Palmer was the owner of Palmer Construction and had a reputation for being professional, having diligence and attention to detail in all that he did. He was a member of VFW
Post 1860 and Bennett's Chapel United Methodist Church. He was passionate about music and for the last 10 years has played steel guitar with The Rusty Strings, entertaining residents at various local venues.
He was married to the late Ruth Katherine Palmer.
Surviving are one son, Ralph L. Palmer of Fredericksburg, VA; one daughter, Carol A. Galton of Strasburg, VA; a special friend, Dean Cantrell; four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Poe, James Petty, Gary Ring, Tim Steele, Lynn Estelle, James Curry, and Bruce Ring.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 15, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
