Ruth Ann "Ruthie" McKahan, 67, of Front Royal, died Wednesday in the Lynn Care Center.
A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted on Tuesday, October 9 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Richard Carr officiating. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Ruthie was born October 1, 1945 in Rockingham County, daughter of Hallie Smith of Front Royal, and the late John W. Stoneberger. She was a homemaker.
Ruthie loved life. She grew up in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley and always appreciated the mountains. She was a graduate of Warren County High School, class of 1964 and attended Lord Fairfax Community College. She enjoyed vacationing with her husband, Guy and truly loved her family and her gardening. Ruthie loved the Arts, particularly music, art, and acting. She took pleasure in writing poetry and thoroughly enjoyed researching genealogy and history in general. She was always on the lookout for a good find! Ruthie was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Surviving with her mother are her husband, Guy L. McKahan; step-father, Jimmy Smith of Front Royal; seven children, Will Nesbitt of Virginia, Eric Nesbitt of Virginia, Allison Johns of Florida, Francine Clark of Maryland, Regina Luckey of Virginia, Madeline Grieb of Germany, and Bonita Duncan of Virginia; two step-daughters, Pamela Knight of Ohio, and Paula Miley of Virginia; one sister, Betty Weers of Flanagan, Illinois; twenty-seven grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Will Nesbitt, Eric Nesbitt, Matthew Clark, Andrew Clark, Stuart Nesbitt, III, and Aubrey Nesbitt.
Honorary pallbearer will be Frank Plauger.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home.

Following the graveside service, the family would like to invite all who attend Ruthie's service to join them at the Riverton United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall for a time of food and sharing memories.
