Shirley Ann (Hardison) Varndell(1935 - 2013)

Shirley Ann Varndell, age 77, of Stephens City, went to be with her Lord early on Saturday, March 9, 2013.

A celebration of her life will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Stover Funeral Home, Strasburg with Rev. David Martin and Rev. Gregory Varndell officiating. Burial will be in St. Stephens Cemetery, Strasburg.

Mrs. Varndell was born November 23, 1935 in Lenoir County, NC, a daughter of the late Charlie and Adell Heath Hardison. She was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Winchester.

Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Dr. Larry Varndell, D.D. (Ret.);  three sons, Rev. Gregory Varndell and wife Deniese of Parkersburg, WV, Rickey Varndell and wife Kathy of Maurertown and Jeffrey Varndell of Stephens City; her daughter, Sandra Varndell of Stephens City; a brother, Norman Hardison of Chesapeake; a sister, Margaret Ash of Holly Ridge, NC;  6 grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, J.B. Hardison, Donald Hardison and Elton Hardison.

Pallbearers will be Jordon Varndell, Mike Hicks, Jr., Jeff Gillum, Hunter Varndell, Mike Hicks, Sr. and Cameron Gillum.

The family will receive friends at the Varndell home, 319 Fredericktowne Drive, Stephens City, on Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 12 Noon till service time at Stover Funeral Home, 177 N. Holliday Street, Strasburg.
