Phyllis Heishman Obituary
She was born Dec. 3, 1932 in Shenandoah County, daughter of the late Ray and Ina Sigler.
She worked at Shrine Mont in Orkney Springs in her teen years and later at Mt. Jackson Drug Store. She was married to A. Frank Heishman for 32 years, who preceded her in death in 1984.
They had six children, Ann Ward and husband Gary, Donna Mumaw and husband Dexter, Mike Heishman, Steven Heishman and wife Debra, Allen Heishman and wife Sherry, all of Mt. Jackson and Susie Linski and husband Mark of New Market; seven grandchildren, Melissa Atkins and husband Mike of Mt. Jackson, Jonathan Heishman and wife Carrie, Jamie Armentrout and husband John all of Edinburg, Allie Heishman, Adam Heishman, Aaron Heishman all of Mt. Jackson, Matthew Linski and fiancée Megan of New Market; four great-grandchildren, Trey and J. Carter Heishman, Sara Atkins all of Mt. Jackson and Lydia Linksi of New Market; companion Jim Foltz; one brother, Bill Sigler of New Market; two sisters, Shirley Getz of Timberville and Beatrice Richcreek of Edinburg and many nieces and nephews.
Her joys in life were raising her children, gardening her flower beds, and working on the family farm. She was "Mom" to everyone, enjoyed cooking and made sure no one left hungry. She was a very active member of Zion Lutheran Church serving as council member and trustee for many years and a member of Women's Farm Bureau.
The family will receive friends at Dellinger Funeral Home in Mt. Jackson Thursday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The funeral will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 321 Headquarters Road, Edinburg. Pastors Katie Gosswein and John F. Taylor Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with a meal following in the church.
Pallbearers will be Alan Dodson, Jay Ross, Ronnie Dodson, Ricky Haun, Mike Dellinger and Garland Mumaw.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, c/o Donna Mumaw, 2471 Cave Ridge Road, Mt. Jackson, VA 22842.

What a remarkable woman, who touched many lives. She was on the go from the time her feet hit the floor till the time she lay her head to rest. Such passion for life, her family,her church and everyone she came across...her zest for life lives on in her chindren, who are some of the finest people in this world...peace be with each and everyone of you as you deal with your loss...she was loved by many

Dear Ann, Donna, Mike, Steven, Al and Sue,
My heart broke into 6 pieces, one for each of you, when I learned of your Mother's passing. I am so sorry for your loss and the unexpected timing of it all.
I hope you will each find comfort in the love she shared with you and others. She made this world a better place. She will truly be missed here, but I imagine Frank hasn't let go of her since she arrived in heaven!

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Heishamn family in their time of sorrow. Emmy remembers "Mom" Heishman from when Dale had her out at the farm looking at the cows. She knew she could always go in and get a treat from Mom Heishman.

My sincere thoughts and prayers go to each of you at this time. Seeing Phyllis's passing on line brought back so many memories of life on the Orkney Grade (long before any of you were even thought of). Your Mother was one of the "big girls " that I looked up to when I was growing up. I always loved being around her because she was very nice and had a great sense of humor. We have lost one of the special ones.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
