Ruby Ellen Saunders

Mrs. Ruby Ellen Whisenhunt Saunders, age 75, of Stephens City, Virginia, died Tuesday, September 6, 2011. She passed away at her home surrounded by her family, after a long battle with cancer.

Mrs. Saunders was born in 1936 in Clintwood, Virginia, the daughter of the late Ed and Mandy "Rosie" Whisenhunt.

She had been a school bus driver in Fairfax County, Virginia, retiring after thirty-two years of service. She was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed baking and gardening.

Mrs. Saunders married Walter V. Saunders on June 14, 1954, in Weldon, North Carolina.

Surviving with her husband is a daughter, Carol Boyd and husband Joe of Stephens City; three sons, Bobby Saunders and wife Tracey of Stephens City, Ronnie Saunders and companion Linda Riffle of Toms Brook, and Brian Saunders and wife Milinda of Stephens City; eight grandchildren, Amber Clark, Ryan Saunders, Jennifer Saunders, Melissa Saunders, Laura Ridgeway, Kevin Saunders, B. J. Dever, IV, and Katie Dever; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Beulah Haynes of Clintwood, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Reverend Jimmy Ritter officiating. Interment will be in Ivy Hill Cemetery, Upperville, Virginia.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
