Allan Thomas Haley, age 96, a resident of Strasburg, VA passed away Friday, October 18, 2013 surrounded by his family at his residence.

A celebration of life gathering will be held from 2:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at the home of Mr. Haley. Mr. Haley will be laid to rest with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
He was born in Boston, Massachusetts on May 29, 1917 a son of the late Martin and Mary Gill Haley.
Mr. Haley served over 30 years with the US Navy including World War II, Korean as well as Vietnam wars and also one of the last living veterans who took part in the battle of Okinawa. While serving his country he received many awards and medals including the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, Presidential Unit Citation for participation in the Battle of Okinawa, China Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal as well as nine good conduct medals. He also served with the 4th Amphibious Tractor Bn, USMC.
Mr. Haley was a member of Shenandoah American Legion Post 77, Strasburg, VA.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his and Mrs. Haley's eldest child Naomi Kathleen.
Survivors include his loving wife Miwako Isago Haley of the home; his loving children, Martin P. Haley of Strasburg VA, Patricia Ann Haley of Star Tannery VA, Mary Teresa Haley of Gainesville, VA, and Michael A. Haley and wife, Monica of Glenville, WV; and his six grandchildren, Holly, Cole, Gunnar, Ty, Cheyenne, and Kohanna.
