Gilbert Stanley Hawkins Sr., loving husband to Gloria Josephine Weis Hawkins for 63 years went to be with the lord on September 19, 2013 in Strasburg, Virginia.

He was born August 19, 1930 in St. Louis Missouri. He lived and raised his family in Purcellville, Virginia and later moved to Lake Anna, Virginia to live out his retirement years. He honorably served in the Navy from 1951 to 1955 in Hawaii. He served as a deacon at Engleside Baptist and Purcellville Baptist Churches and was a member of the Louisa Baptist Church. He was Scout Master for Purcellville Boy Scout Troop 1162. He earned Wood Badge-Bear and was a member of OA. He worked as a Master Carpenter and Superintendent for Washington local 1690 as his major occupation. His life's work and devotion was building a strong and closely knit family.

He was preceded in death by his father Frank Owens Hawkins and his mother Selma Otillda Roflinger.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria, their children and spouses: Linda Kling, Gilbert S. Hawkins Jr. and Leah, Lorrie McCullock and Alan, Natalie Stefkovic and Lenny, and Scott Hawkins and Tammy. His grandchildren: Jason Cowne, Stephen Hawkins, Sarah Barrett, Brittany McCullock, Tyler McCullock, Michelle "Smuff " Lauder, Cody Stefkovic, Ashley Hawkins and Joshua Hawkins. And lasting in his memory as a testament to his faith his great grandchild, Hailey Lynn Barrett.

The pallbearers will be his grandsons Jason Cowne, Stephen Hawkins, Josh Hawkins, Tyler McCullock, Cody Stefkovic and Jake Lauder.

The viewing will be Sunday, September 22, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 at Hall Funeral Home Purcellville, VA and service will be on Monday, September 23, 2013 at 11:00 at the Purcellville Baptist Church, Purcellville, VA.
