He married Nancy Barton on October 16, 1971, in Dublin, Georgia.

Surviving with his mother and wife are his daughters, Rhonda Bradfield and husband, Mark, Becky Stotler and husband, Michael B., Janice Dicken and husband, Brian; sons, Jimmy Horton, Jr. and Chris Horton all of Winchester; grandchildren who lovingly know him as "Granddaddy" and "Good Daddy", Meaghan and Allison Bradfield, Alisa and Jonah Stotler, Emma, Jack, Tanner, Nora and Shepherd Dicken.

In addition to his beloved father and stepfather, Ralph Graham, he was also preceded in death, on the same day, by his father-in-law, H. Vernon Barton, Jr. whom he loved dearly.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, at Mountain View Church of Christ, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and on Friday at 10:00 a.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Mountain View Church of Christ with Evangelist Doug Hardman, Evangelist Charles Doughty and Evangelist Brian Dicken officiating. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Pallbearers will be his four brothers-in-law, Hugh, John, Donnie and Jimmy Barton as well as Edward Costello and Jeff Mongold.
