John W. Fincham, Jr., 59, of Stephens City, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 in Front Royal.

John was born October 8, 1953 in Cambridge, England, the son of John W. Fincham, Sr. and Juanita Fincham.
He was a 1972 graduate of James Wood High School and a 1982 graduate of Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. John began his career in funeral service working for Robertshaw Funeral Home in Front Royal. He served his apprenticeship with Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville, VA. After obtaining his degree in mortuary science he returned to Winchester and served as a funeral director with Jones Funeral Home. In 1986, John had a vision to open a funeral home in Stephens City. He was the manager of Stephens City Funeral Home for 8 years. He was a funeral director with with Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal at the time of his retirement due to health reasons.
John served as past president of the Shawnee Lions Club and served as a Little League Basketball coach for 13 years. He was also a member of the founding Newtown Heritage Festival Committee in Stephens City.
John married Stephanie Elaine Lowery on March 25, 1978 in Winchester.
Along with his wife and his father, he is survived by his children, David Michael Fincham of Augusta, WV and Bethany Kate Fincham of Stephens City; his grandchildren, Gavin Michael Fincham, Avic David Fincham and Logan Michael Fincham; a sister, Diana Whitlock of Winchester; a half-brother, Andrew George of Cambridge, England and a half-sister, Caroline George of Wales, England.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Fincham; his stepmother, Holly Fincham; a brother, Harvey Settle; and a sister, Mildred Settle Chase.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 23, 2013 from 6 -7 p.m. at Calvary Church of the Brethren. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the church.
Honorary Pallbearers will be David Michael Fincham, Tom Davis, Tim Juergens, Monte Unger, Dwaine Unger, Gary VanMeter, Richard Keller, Courtney Trainum, Phillip Brewer and Sammy Campbell.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Senior Choir fund or the Helping Hand Fund, c/o Calvary Church of the Brethren, 578 Front Royal Pike, Winchester, VA, 22602.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Jerry B. Giffin of Giffin Funeral Home in Capon Bridge, WV and Marlene Lowery Davis of Jones Funeral Home in Winchester.
