Known by many as "Spigot" or just plain "Lee", Thomas Lee Fawcett was born and raised in Frederick County, Virginia on July 13, 1925.

Described as 'a good man, funny and full of practical jokes, but mostly "what you saw " was "what you got." Lee, 88, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2013 at Westminster-Canterbury where he and his wife of 63 years had lived for the past six years.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Snapp Fawcett, and two children, son, Robert Fawcett, and daughter, Carol Melby, two grandchildren, Esther Melby of Morton, Washington, and Julia Melby, of Ghana, West-Africa, a sister, Lucy Lamp of Richmond, Va.

He was preceded in death by an older brother, Denzil Fawcett and his parents, Katherine Everly Fawcett and Charles Julian Fawcett.

Lee graduated from Stephens City High School in 1943. He served in WW II in the 361st Infantry Regiment, 91st Division and led his unit through Northern Italy to receive a bronze star as a staff Sargeant.

Lee was a life member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Opequon, VA where he served for many years on the church council, and more recently a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winchester, VA. An avid hunter, he was a member of the Mountain Falls Hunt Club, and the Isaac Walton League. He worked for Potomac Edison Power Company for 40 years.

A memorial service is planned for Friday, 2:00 p.m., December 20, 2013 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Martha Miller Sims and the Rev. James Utt officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be offered to Grace Lutheran Church, 26 West Boscawen Street, Winchester, VA 22601 or to Westminster Canterbury Fellowship Fund, 300 Westminster Canterbury Drive, Winchester, VA 22603.
