Thomas Phillip Archer, Jr., 81, of Front Royal, Virginia, died on Saturday, August 2nd, 2014, at his home.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 8th, at 3:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home conducted by Pastor Bobby Stepp. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Archer was born June 26, 1933, in New York City, son of the late Thomas Phillip Archer, Sr. and Inez Shepard Archer.

He was a 1950 graduate of LaFayette High School in LaFayette, Georgia, and then attended the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia, for one year. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 until 1956 in Omaha, Nebraska, and then returned to LaFayette, Georgia, to help with the family business. He worked for NASA Bendix Corporation and traveled throughout South America.

Mr. Archer married Margaret Scott Wilson and lived in Los Angeles, California for two years. They moved to Naples, Florida, where he owned and operated several businesses. They lived in Naples for over 30 years and he served as a Collier County Florida Commissioner in the 1970's and 1980's. He was a member of the Cypress Masonic Lodge #295, F & AM of Naples. He and his wife moved to Front Royal in 2006.

Surviving are his children, Douglas Shepard Archer of Cape Coral, Florida, Margaret Elizabeth O'Fallon of Front Royal, and Thomas Phillip Archer, III of Front Royal; a sister, Gale Archer Verity of Winter Springs, Florida; a brother, Richard S. Archer, Sr. of LaFayette, Georgia; and two granddaughters, Grace Grey O'Fallon and Annabelle Hubbell O'Fallon.

He was predeceased by his wife, Maggie Archer and a sister, Dianne Archer Engel.
