Lt. Col. V. E. Wilson, USAF (Ret.) passed away on Friday, September 6, 2013 after a short illness.

He was born and raised in Center, Texas and attended Stephen F. Austin University. Following graduation in 1940, Vern joined the Army Air Corp Flying Cadet program. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in March 1942.

He met his beloved Ann in 1945 when he was stationed at the Boca Raton Army Air Field. They married less than a year later and their romance lasted 63 years. Vern served in the USAF for 24 years, retiring to Biloxi, Mississippi in 1968. He and Ann had two daughters, Jayne and Sue.

Col. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings and his wonderful wife Ann Myers Wilson.

He is survived by daughter Jayne Stewart and her husband, SMSgt Robert G. Stewart, USAF (Ret.) and his youngest daughter Sue McCullough and her husband, Russell. Vern cherished his time with his three grandchildren, Sara Piety, Will McCullough and Ben McCullough.
