Allen John Thomason, age 93, a resident of Strasburg, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Greenfield Senior Living of Woodstock, VA.

A celebration of life for Mr. Thomason will be held privately.

Mr. Thomason was born in Williamstown, Massachusetts on April 10, 1920, a son of the late Albert and Barbara Thomason.

He graduated from Williamstown High School and then from Aero Industries Technical Institute in Los Angeles, CA. He then moved to Wichita, Kansas where he was an employee of the Beechcraft Corporation at that time in which he was drafted into the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II on the USS New Orleans, in the South Pacific. Upon discharge from the military he met and married the love of his life on April 26, 1947, Beatrice F. Lemieux, with whom he would have celebrated 66 years of marriage this year. They started the Veteran Taxi in Williamstown, MA, and he graduated from the Massachusetts Civil Defense Agency in 1964, and became the Captain of the Williamstown, MA Police Auxiliary. They then opened and operated Thomason's Package Store in Williamstown. He was an avid hunter and fisherman but his main pride was his family and his grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Beatrice L. Thomason of Strasburg, VA; children, Clarisse Thomason Bushman and husband David of Strasburg, VA, and Brian Allen Thomason of Newport, NC; grandchildren, Aaron Thomason Bushman, Aimee Bushman, Marykate Campbell, Lisa Thomason, Crystal Miller, Elizabeth Thomason, and Laura Thomason; siblings, Melvin Thomason and wife, Betty of Conyers, GA, and Alice Hunkler of North Adams, MA.

The family asks that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contribution to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork Street, Winchester, VA 22601.
