Beverley Jean Sargent Moreland, 75, of Stephens City, formerly of Winchester, died Thursday, November 22, 2012, in a local nursing home.

She was born August 25, 1937 in Keyser, WV, the daughter of Ralph Samuel and Velma Grace Stanley Sargent.

She was married to Jacob Franklin Moreland who died February 2, 2002.

Mrs. Moreland, with her husband, had owned and operated Moreland's Stop and Shop Grocery in Winchester. She had also been a clerk at Old Town General Store.

She was a 1956 graduate of James Wood High School, a member of the Calvary Church of the Brethren and a volunteer at Winchester Medical Center.

Surviving are two daughters, Pamela G. Moreland Goode and her husband Ray, Sr. of Winchester and Asiyah Abdul-Wali (Pollie); her companion, Roger Coffey of Stephens City; a brother, James Arthur Sargent of Martinsburg, WV; a sister, Judy Dale Robinson of Martinsburg, WV; four grandchildren, Kendra Smith and her husband Mike of Strasburg, Jason Fraley and his wife Kathryn of Winchester, Aaron Miller of Winchester, and Ray Goode, Jr. of Stephens City; three great-grandchildren, Alana Christine Smith, Kenley Grace Smith and Macy Rae Smith, all of Strasburg; four step-great-grandchildren, Britney, Evan, Sarita, and Emily; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A beloved aunt, Ruth Judd, is deceased.

A funeral service will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Calvary Church of the Brethren, Winchester with Pastor Clarence R "Chuck" Davis, Jr. officiating.

Entombment will follow in Shenandoah Memorial Park.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the church.

Casketbearers will be Jason Fraley, Aaron Miller, Roger Coffey, Mike Smith, Ronald Layman, Ray Goode, Sr. and Ray Goode, Jr.
