Surrounded by loving family and friends, Colleen Ann Getler, 50, of Woodstock, Virginia and formerly of Toms River, New Jersey, peacefully passed away at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital in Woodstock Sunday, September 2, 2018.

Born in Westwood, New Jersey July 23, 1968, Colleen was the beloved daughter of the late Alfred C. and Edna Donnelly Getler.

She attended Meadowbrook Elementary School in Hillsdale, New Jersey and was a graduate of Toms River East High School, Toms River, New Jersey.

Colleen happily spent the past 13 years attending the Shen-Paco Industries Day Support Program in Quicksburg, Virginia. She was an active member of St. Justin's R.C. Church, Toms River, New Jersey and participated in St. Justin Center of Learning activities. She also attended Emanuel Lutheran Church, Woodstock, Virginia.

Colleen is survived by her loving family including her sister and caregiver, Katherine Getler Coffman of Woodstock, Virginia; and brothers, Thomas Getler and his wife Kirsten of Canton, Connecticut, Donald Getler and his wife Candace of Bristol, Connecticut, and Alfred Getler and his wife Nancy of South Hero, Vermont.

She is also survived by many adoring nieces, nephews and cousins as well as her extended family members and caregivers, Tammy Grove Cook and Judy Hottle.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Getler of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 8, 2018, 11 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 127 East High Street, Woodstock, Virginia. The Rev. Nathan Robinson will officiate.

Family visitation and a reception will take place immediately following the service in the church social hall.

An additional memorial service will be held in Toms River, New Jersey at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shen- Paco Industries, Inc., 1032 Wissler Road, Quicksburg, VA 22847.

In addition to her family and friends, Colleen loved music, especially Michael Jackson, attending Strasburg High School football games, Sunday church services, spaghetti, meatloaf and ice cream.

All who were blessed by her presence were able to experience the unconditional love and joy she shared throughout her life. She taught us all the virtues of acceptance, patience, and kindness.
