Doris Irene Walters, 68, of Fort Valley passed away Sunday, January 26 at Winchester Medical Center.

She was born December 23, 1945 daughter of Carroll and Gladys Walters of Fort Valley.

She is survived by her brother Ernie Walters and wife, Linda, nephews Larry Walters and wife Shannon and Adam Walters and wife Linda, a beloved great nephew Gage Walters and two beloved nieces Brianna Coffman and Sarah Kate Walters, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid Society of the church. She worked for 39 years at Wrangler and retired when the plant closed. She is remembered for her caring and warm hospitality along with her warm and welcoming attitude for anyone who entered her doors.

Family night will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 4260 Fort Valley Road in Fort Valley on Tuesday from 6 to 8pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at Faith Lutheran Church at 11 am. Reverend Shelby DePriest will officiate. Burial will be in the Samuel E. Walters Cemetery on St. Davids Church Road in Fort Valley. A reception will follow at the Fort Valley Fire Hall.

Pallbearers will be Brian Fitchett, Bruce McClanahan, Josh Burner, Tony Stephens, Jason Ritchie, Christopher Stephens, Danny Burner and Greg Melton.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to Faith Lutheran Church, PO Box 132, Fort Valley, VA 22652.
